    • If you checkout on Thursday, the first checkout is 5 days
    • The Photography Department is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
    • If you checkout on Monday, the first checkout is 2 days
    • If you checkout on Tuesday, the first checkout is until 6:00 pm that day

Do I have to wait until Tuesday to return Equipment?

  • No, you can return equipment any time the Photo Equipment Cage is open.
    • If you don't need to use equipment please be kind and return it so that other students have the opportunity to use the equipment

Can I extend my Equipment checkout?

  • Yes, for each checkout there are 3 extensions possible
    • You can extend if the equipment is available to extend and if you're still enrolled in an active course

How long is the checkout extension?

  • Each extension is 7 days by default
    • You can always return earlier if you do not need the equipment
    • After 3 extensions you must return equipment and begin a new "first" checkout

When can I extend Equipment?

  • Extensions begin on Monday the week the equipment is due

How do I extend Equipment?

  • You can extend equipment in person during open hours in MENH-121 or MENH-133
  • You can extend by phone during open hours by calling the Photography Lab at (661) 362-3267

Is there a deadline to extend Equipment?

  • Yes, the deadline for extensions is 5:59 pm on the Tuesday equipment is due

What if I miss the deadline to extend or return Equipment?

  • Communication is key - we understand life happens and can bring unexpected challenges, and that everyone has a busy schedule
    • If you're running late, or need to schedule an alternate time to return equipment please, contact us - (661) 362-3267
    • If you call and talk with us, leave a voicemail, or email so we know what is going on, we will do our best to accommodate and help

  • If you have not contacted us to extend or return equipment by 6:00 pm on the Tuesday equipment is due the equipment will be marked late
    • Unfortunately, late equipment cannot be extended and must be returned as soon as possible

What is the longest amount of time I can checkout the same Equipment?

  • If you checkout on a Wednesday, and use all three 7-day extensions, you can keep the same equipment for approximately one month
  • After the initial checkout and three extensions you must return equipment

What if I returned but need to checkout equipment again?

  • If your course is still active, and you need to use equipment for another assignment, you can checkout equipment again - the cycle starts over

I finished photographing for my assignment, should I keep equipment or return it?

  • Whether you should keep equipment / extend or return it depends on you and your course schedule
    • If you have a 5-week or 8-week course you may need equipment every week, so using all possible extensions may work best, and that's okay
    • If you have a 16-week course you may not need equipment every week, so returning and checking out again later based on your course schedule may work best, which is okay too
  • Returning equipment if you do not need it helps all students have the opportunity to checkout equipment
    • We will do our best to ensure a camera/equipment is available if needed, but cannot guarantee the availability of a specific camera or other equipment
