Where to find internship opportunities

There are lots of places to look for potential internships and summer research programs. Here are a few links that specifically target students with little to no experience. These are a great way to get started!

 

Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Programs Links to an external site.

REU programs are funded by NSF, and are available in several STEM fields at many universities. Typically students are assigned a specific project to work on over a summer. The positions include housing and a stipend.

National Institute of Health Community College Summer Enrichment Program Links to an external site.

This program is funded by the NIH. It provides a paid summer internship, typically in Bethesda, MD. Housing is not arranged by the program.

Department of Energy Community College Internship Program Links to an external site.

This program is funded by the DOE. It provides a 10-week paid internship during the Summer, Fall, or Spring term. Students select preferences among the 16 DOE laboratory sites.

NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) Program Links to an external site.

This program consists of a 5-week online project. At the end of the project, students are selected to visit a NASA site and participate in a 4-day design challenge.
