Recording the Meeting

Set up easy access to your Zoom App

One cool feature of Zoom is the ability to record your meeting so participants who can't attend still have access to the information.

How do you record?

Once your meeting has started, you can record by selecting the "record" button from the menu bar.

Look for the little record button in Zoom

Here are two extra pieces of information that might help you work with Zoom.

  1. The menu bar may suddenly disappear! Don't panic--it's normal. The menu disappears so you can see more of the meeting. To get the menu back, move your cursor anywhere within the Zoom window, and the menu will pop back up.
  2. But, when you're screen sharing,  that menu may get in the way! If it does, you can select the menu and drag it to a more convenient spot.

Back to recording! How do you make it happen? Your meeting is going, you're the host, hit record!

Who can record?

By default, only hosts can record meetings, so it is really important that a host start the meeting and recording, or the host grants another user permission to record.

Where is my recording?

Your meeting will record, and the file will either upload to your Zoom account (record to the cloud), or download to your computer. The file will be ready after your meeting ends, which may take a moment. You'll get an email when your recording is ready. Remember, recorded meetings can be saved to:

  • the cloud
NOTE: We recommend this method because it makes it easier to share, you get access to a transcript, and you can always download it later if needed.
  • or to your computer
