American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Opportunities

The RISE Summer Academy is a FREE six-week intensive program for American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) learners that provides in-depth training and Indigenous learning opportunities to prepare scholars for the medical school application process.  

The Wy'east Medicine Pathway Links to an external site. is a FREE 10-month post-baccalaureate health education Pathway for AI/AN learners who are passionate about becoming physicians. We recruit nationwide and our scholars receive a monthly stipend throughout the 10-month Pathway.  

The Huwighurruk Tribal Health Program is a FREE post-baccalaureate health education pathway designed to empower aspiring physicians with a focus on serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities and is based at Cal Poly Humboldt.

  • Huwighurruk scholars will be immersed in a culturally-focused framework intertwined with courses at Cal Poly Humboldt.
  • Huwighurruk students are accepted into UC Davis School of Medicine and the Tribal Health PRIME Pathway on upon meeting outlined conditions (see attachments).
