Order of Operations

The recommended order to complete everything on time is:

Day 1

  • Background check - this can take up to a month to complete, so start early
  • Drug test - this can take 2-3 weeks to complete, so start early
  • 1st TB test or Quantiferon blood test for TB
  • Lab titers drawn to show immunity to hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella.
    • You MUST have these done even if you have been vaccinated before! Vaccinations wear off over time.
  • If Quantiferon is done, skip to Day 5

Day 3

  • Read 1st TB test (if not doing Quantiferon)
  • Get 2nd TB test (if not doing Quantiferon)

Day 5

  • Read 2nd TB test (if not doing Quantiferon)
  • Get vaccinations for any titer results that show low immunity.
  • Complete physical, signed by a doctor or nurse practitioner.
  • PRINT all lab results, vaccination records (including new boosters) and both TB test results and add them to Checklist 3. Do NOT check them off on the form- your instructor will do that when they review the results.
