If you plan to implement an openly licensed textbook into your course to make it ZTC, your orientation letter, the COC Bookstore, and the COC schedule of classes needs to inform students that there is no textbook cost. A 'Zero Textbook Cost' (ZTC) designation in the College of the Canyons' Schedule of Classes will let your students know Links to an external site. that the class uses a no-cost digital textbook.

Printed OER Textbook for Students

The COC Bookstore will send an email reminder each semester requesting textbook information. Reply back to the Bookstore's email with the OER textbook information e.g. "I'm using OpenStax Physics ISBN-13: 978-193816800." If your book is in PDF format, "I'm using an OER book (include title)" and attach the PDF to your reply back to the Bookstore.

  • The Bookstore will order copies of the OER book through a vendor (if possible) or will order copies to be printed through Reprographics.
  • The Bookstore will inform the Library about current OER usage to allow reserve copies to be ordered.
